Obviously Crohn's Disease damages your digestive tract........ Therefore this damage can make it very difficult to absorb the nutrients you require for great health.... However the good news is you can take supplements that can assist you in getting the right amounts of the nutrients you need...... These are the 10 Vitamins and Minerals I think you need...... Today I am sharing the first two with you....
1. Iron - Crohn's disease can cause bleeding in the intestines which can result in anemia, a red-blood-cell deficiency. The classic symptom of anemia is fatigue, but it can also result in headaches and pale skin. A blood test can turn up any problems. If you are deficient then you can take iron in pills or a liquid form. I take my iron in tablet form.
2. Vitamin B12 - Crohn's disease can also damage the ileum, the lower part of the intestine necessary for vitamin B12 absorption. Sometimes if you are unlucky portions of the ileum have to be surgically removed. Vitamin B12 deficiencies can manifest as weakness, fatigue, light-headedness, and megaloblastic anemia ( which are larger than normal red blood cells). I use to get a monthly shot of Vitamin B12 but now take a daily tablet that dissolves under your tongue. You can also purchase a nasal spray.
